Bergerac & Montravel

It’s at proximity of the Dordogne River.
The red, aromatic and generous wine of Bergerac is coming from a mixture of diverse grapes juice. There are the so-called noble grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) and the more traditional grapes (Côt, Fer, Mérille) in the South West of France.
The white grape varieties include an assemblage of Sémillon, Sauvignon, Muscadelle, Ondec and Chenin Blanc.
Most of people know Bergerac wines for its red wine but less people know that Bergerac wine contains 13 sub-appellations. In the 13 sub-appellations you can find Montravel, Monbazillac, Pecharmant, Cotes de Bergerac… appellations.
Montravel has been known for white wines until recently. In 2001 the production of red wine was approved under the Montravel AOC.
